Stompin’ Tom Connors Sculpture Unveiled at Sudbury Arena

SUDBURY, Ontario – The bronze sculpture honouring one of Canada’s greatest folk/country artists, Stompin’ Tom Connors, found a home today. The life-sized bronze, commissioned by the Stompin’ Tom Connors Commemorative Committee, was unveiled at the Sudbury Community Arena in downtown Sudbury.

‘There wasn’t a sound’ – Bronze monument honours Shannen Koostachin

A monument commemorating Shannen Koostachin, a young Cree activist from Attawapiskat First Nation, was unveiled earlier this month at the New Liskeard waterfront. Koostachin led the struggle for a new school in Attawapiskat, and was nominated for the International Children’s Peace Prize.

Bronze monuments unveiled

Three larger-than-life bronze sculptures were unveiled at the Timmins Museum/National Exhibition Centre on August 4, 2012, during a public ceremony. The 7 ft bronze sculptures, mounted on granite bases, commemorate prospectors Sandy McIntyre, John “Jack” Wilson, and Benny Hollinger, whose spectacular gold discoveries launched one of the biggest gold rushes in history.
